Fishkill Farms Butterfly Gallery 2016-2019

Fishkill Farms in Hopewell Junction, NY  is one of my favorite places to watch and photograph butterflies. From early July to October the farm’s organic fruit, vegetable, and flower gardens attract a wide variety of butterflies, including Monarchs, Yellow and Black Tiger Swallowtails, Giant Swallowtails, Spicebush Swallowtails, Great Spangled Fritillaries, Viceroys, and Sulphurs–not to mention bees, hummingbirds, and other pollinators. In late Summer and early Fall their flower gardens also attract more Monarchs than any other butterfly gardens in the area, thanks to the farm’s location along a Monarch migration route that extends from Maine to Mexico–and the abundance of flowers still in bloom into October.

The photos in this portfolio were all taken in and around the farm. Not shown here are the dozens of HDR 4K UHD movies I also captured of the same gardens and butterflies. Camera: Samsung NX1, 100-300mm stabilized lens.
